7 simple foods that can make people happy
Food is not only meant to nourish and satisfy; it affects all processes in the body. Specifically, some foods can improve mood and make people happier, according to Ukrainian dietitian Natalia Samoylenko.
Food impact on the body
The expert says 90% of serotonin receptors are located in the gut. Consuming foods that improve gut health can help you feel a bit happier.
Endorphins, the hormones of joy, allow us to feel pleasure and enjoy short-term actions, including eating. High levels of endorphins can even reduce pain perception, enhance brain function, and help manage stress.
Which foods make people happy
Consider adding these foods to your diet:
- Fish and seafood: As a main meal, 100-150 grams a day.
- Chocolate: Known to combat depression. It contains magnesium, which helps lower cortisol, the stress hormone. Eat it before 3 PM, but no more than 20-30 grams a day. Cocoa content should be at least 75%.
- Fruits and vegetables: They contain B vitamins, microelements, and fiber - everything that creates a nutritious flora for the gut.
- Nuts (excluding peanuts and cashews), flax seeds, sesame seeds, and pumpkin seeds: Contain Omega-3 and iron, ideal for snacks.
- Dairy products (kefir or natural yogurt): Needed to keep the gut comfortable.
- Meat and offal: Contain iron, which positively affects mood and immunity. Eat red meats for lunch (100-150 grams) with vegetables, and white meats (turkey, which also contains tryptophan) for dinner.
- Legumes: Lentils boost serotonin levels and help control blood sugar.
"If you include these foods in your diet throughout the day, you will feel happier and healthier quickly," the dietitian states.
Therefore, it is important to carefully monitor your diet to ensure you gain only benefits and good well-being.
