There could be many reasons for rapid weight gain. It could be due to a lifestyle change or serious health problems, according to Ukrainian dietitian Natalia Samoilenko.

Antidepressants

According to an expert, long-term use of antidepressants may lead to decreased regulation of serotonin receptors. This can later result in cravings for carbohydrate-rich foods such as bread, pasta, and sweets.

This ultimately can lead to a sudden weight gain.

Coffee abuse

Caffeine releases cortisol, which signals the body to release a large amount of glucose into the blood. Especially if you don't immediately expend this sugar after your favorite cup of coffee, there's a high chance it will be stored in the thigh and buttock area.

The same process happens during stress. Caffeine is also found in black and green tea, which many people drink instead of water.

Sleep deprivation

Depriving yourself of adequate sleep seriously disrupts the balance of two hormones - leptin and ghrelin.

Recovery processes occur from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM, and if you're not sleeping during this time, losing weight will be much more difficult.

Skipping breakfast

Breakfast helps the body control the insulin synthesis process, which is directly responsible for the accumulation of fat cells.

Moreover, it's in the morning that the body best absorbs fiber, which cleanses the intestinal walls and promotes the formation of healthy gut flora.

Hidden sugars

Protecting yourself from unwanted calories can only be done in one way - by studying the composition of purchased products, even if they have nothing to do with desserts.

Can't give up alcohol

Any alcohol enhances feelings of hunger, and you may lose control over yourself.

Alcohol is absorbed primarily and, entering the stomach with food, redirects the attention of the metabolism system to itself, resulting in fats and carbohydrates being stored as reserves.

Eating too many nuts

Nuts seem like a very healthy snack. However, as with most foods, moderation is key. It's important to know that fatty acids are great but in reasonable amounts.
