5 rules from gynecologist to ensure women's health
Maintaining women's health requires regular screenings and proper care of intimate areas.
Women should adhere to certain rules to maintain their health, according to gynecologist Olena Arendar.
Undergo regular screening
"Make sure to undergo cervical screening once a year: cervical cytology (Pap smear), colposcopy, and testing for human papillomavirus (HPV)," advises the gynecologist.
Practice safe sex
"Safe sex means using condoms and combined oral contraceptives (COC) for contraception. Ideally, both partners should be tested for sexually transmitted infections," emphasizes Arendar.
Avoid using products to maintain vaginal pH
"Women do not need any products advertised to maintain vaginal pH for intimate hygiene. Water is the best thing that can be used," explains the doctor.
She also advises against using daily liners and douching, which disrupt the vaginal microflora balance and can lead to bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections.
Undergo annual breast screening
"It is necessary to undergo preventive ultrasound examination of the breast once a year. After the age of 40, mammography is recommended instead of ultrasound," says Arendar.
Only consult evidence-based doctors
"An evidence-based doctor will not treat ureaplasma, cauterize erosion, prescribe dietary supplements for the treatment of gynecological conditions, or perform surgery for functional ovarian cysts," says the gynecologist.
