In the kitchen, there are areas where grease builds up much faster than it seems at first glance. Even regular cleaning does not always make it easy to notice, according to Better Homes & Gardens.

Kitchen backsplash

The kitchen backsplash is the part of the wall between the countertop and upper cabinets or the range hood.

Grease appears on the backsplash due to steam during cooking and small oil splashes. It can be cleaned in different ways depending on how heavy the buildup is.

If the residue is fresh and light, usually warm water with a small amount of dish soap is enough. Wipe the surface with a sponge, let the solution sit briefly, then rinse with clean water and wipe dry.

If the grease is old and hard to remove, you can use a vinegar and water solution in equal parts or a special kitchen degreaser.

Range hood

Range hoods can quickly become greasy. Since they are located above the stove, oil splashes accumulate over time.

Keeping the range hood clean is not only about appearance. If it becomes too clogged with grease, it will not function properly.

It is recommended to clean the hood about once a month using a special cleaning product.

Behind kitchen appliances

During cooking, grease splashes can easily reach areas behind appliances. It is important to regularly clean around items such as toasters, coffee machines, and microwaves.

Degreasing the back surfaces of appliances and the surrounding areas also helps them function better.

Oven door

The edges of the oven door, glass, and handle collect grease during cooking. Even if you regularly clean the glass, you may overlook the edges where grease easily accumulates.

A clean oven door is important for fire safety. In addition, degreasing the oven glass makes it easier to see food inside. You can clean the door using a mixture of baking soda and water.

For spot cleaning, look for streaks, splashes, or cloudy stains, which indicate grease buildup.
