4 hair ties that don't let you grow hair long: Throw them away

Hair care starts with the little things, and choosing the right hair tie matters. Some popular accessories can cause breakage, thinning, and even hair loss. Here are the regular hair ties that can harm your hair.
Standard hair ties
Ukrainian trichologist and cosmetologist Lolita Veliieva shared that such hair ties hold the hair well and can be quite convenient for daily use. However, they are too tight, which can cause pain or even disrupt blood circulation in the scalp if worn for long periods.
Use them carefully and don’t tighten them too much.

Hair ties with accessories
This category includes hair ties with metal elements or decorative parts. There is a high risk that they could pull or even tear strands when removed.
Use them only on rare occasions or avoid them at all.

Spring hair ties
Although these hair ties are often advertised as safe for hair, in practice, they can pull hair strongly, causing split ends.
If you have thin or damaged hair, it's better to choose softer hair ties.

Hair ties with beads
These hair ties may look beautiful, but they often tangle hair severely. As a result, this can lead to breakage or even hair loss when you try to untangle it. Although stylish, they are not the best for hair.

Silk hair ties
The expert called these the best option for hair. They don’t pull or damage the structure of the hair.
Additionally, they are soft, don’t tear the hair, and don’t leave marks on the scalp, making them ideal for day and night use.

Never pull a hair tie off your hair, as you risk ripping strands. It's best to follow these tips:
- Hold the roots of your hair when carefully removing the hair tie.
- Fully untangle the hair tie before taking it off.
