4 cancer symptoms that require immediate medical attention
Scientists warn people to pay attention to four key symptoms of a fatal disease, as the number of cases among young people is increasing. According to experts, you should see a doctor as soon as possible if you notice any of these signs, even if you are young and appear healthy.
The Mirror reveals signs of a fatal disease that should not be ignored.
Scientists from the US have identified the most important symptoms of bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, that people should be aware of. Some of these symptoms may appear up to two years before a diagnosis is made.
These include:
- abdominal pain;
- rectal bleeding;
- diarrhea;
- iron deficiency;
- anemia.
According to doctors, each symptom indicates an increased risk for patients under the age of 50.
Experts warn young people that colorectal cancer is not just a disease that affects the elderly.
"Colorectal cancer is not simply a disease affecting older people; we want younger adults to be aware of and act on these potentially very telling signs and symptoms - particularly because people under 50 are considered to be at low risk, and they don’t receive routine colorectal cancer screening," said researcher and associate professor Yin Cao ScD.
It is also extremely important to raise awareness among primary care doctors, gastroenterologists, and emergency medical doctors. To date, many cases of early-onset colorectal cancer are detected in emergency departments, and the diagnosis of this cancer is often significantly delayed.
Dr. Cao stated that two symptoms - rectal bleeding and iron-deficiency anemia, a blood condition causing fatigue and pale skin - mean that patients should immediately consult their doctor and undergo an endoscopy.
According to scientists, people born in 1990 have twice the risk of colon cancer and four times the risk of rectal cancer compared to those born in 1950.
