Trump aims for Zelenskyy–Putin talks by late August, Axios reports

US President Donald Trump expects that a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin could take place later this month, according to a post on X by Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
A source familiar with the situation told Axios journalist Barak Ravid that there was hope to hold a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy by the end of August.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy should take place within the next two weeks, adding that the venue still had to be agreed upon.
Background
On the night of August 18–19, US President Donald Trump held talks with Zelenskyy and European leaders on ending the war. The meeting followed Trump’s summit with Putin a day earlier.
After the White House meeting, Trump announced that he had spoken again with the Kremlin leader and begun preparations for a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy. He explained that once that bilateral meeting took place, a trilateral summit would follow, involving himself as well as the two presidents.
