A meeting at the White House between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and European partners has concluded, according to The Guardian.

As of 00:45 Kyiv time, the White House confirmed the conclusion of all meetings scheduled for the day as part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington with European leaders.

What was discussed at length

Since Zelenskyy has said that territorial issues would be reserved for a potential trilateral summit with Putin, the White House talks likely focused in detail on the format of security guarantees for Ukraine.

Earlier, President Trump had stated that agreements on Ukraine’s security guarantees would be reached during the day. He said he believed that the US and Europe would come to a resolution "on nearly everything, including security guarantees." According to him, Putin had also agreed to such guarantees, which were intended to deter any future aggression against Ukraine.

Although reports had already noted the conclusion of the White House meeting, it later emerged that the leaders had only taken a break before moving from the banquet hall into the Oval Office to continue talks in another format.

Trump interrupted the negotiations to place a call to Vladimir Putin. According to media reports, the call was one-on-one, with no European leaders present.
