The United States has already spent more than $27 billion on its military operation against Iran, according to the Iran War Cost Tracker analytical portal.

The estimate is based on data from the Pentagon.

The first six days of the war cost $11.3 billion, with each subsequent day costing around $1 billion.

However, the estimate may not include additional expenses such as force deployment and equipment replacement, meaning the actual total could be higher.

Trump pushes for higher defense spending

As a reminder, discussions are underway in the US about sharply increasing defense spending amid the war with Iran.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon had already asked the White House to approve a request to Congress for more than $200 billion to fund the war effort.

Donald Trump confirmed that he may ask Congress to allocate over $200 billion for military needs, calling such spending a “small price” in the context of the conflict with Iran.

At the same time, there is no unity within the administration regarding further actions. According to The Wall Street Journal, some of Trump’s advisers support a quick end to the conflict due to rising oil prices and the risk of it dragging on.

The debate is also fueled by doubts about the scale of the threat from Iran. In particular, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard did not confirm in a recent statement that Tehran had refrained from restoring its nuclear program after the 2025 strikes — a program whose destruction Trump has described as the main goal of the war.
