Kharkiv came under a massive drone attack late on October 5, as Russian forces targeted the city. Residents reported hearing a series of powerful blasts, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

"At least ten explosions have been heard in Kharkiv as the city came under attack from enemy combat drones," the message, posted at 10:47 PM, read.

According to local channels, the first two blasts occurred around 10:44 PM, with over ten explosions reported since then.

Several local channels also mentioned power outages in parts of the city, though there has been no official confirmation.

At 11:15 PM, the head of the Kharkiv regional administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said preliminary reports indicated that the Novobavarskyi district and nearby suburbs were hit by drones. No casualties have been reported.

Meanwhile, local sources reported a fifteenth explosion in the city.

Air raid alerts

As of 22:58, air raid warnings remained in effect across the Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kherson regions.

Strikes on Kharkiv

Russian forces have recently intensified attacks across Ukraine, including on Kharkiv.

For instance, during the night of October 1, the city, its suburbs, and the Chuhuiv district came under missile and air strikes.

As a result of the attack, damage was reported in two districts, Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi. The Barabashovo market caught fire, while a residential building and several garages were destroyed. Six people were injured.
