Massive fire engulfs high-rise in Kyiv: first details

Overnight on Wednesday, 17 September, a massive fire broke out in one of Kyiv’s districts, engulfing a high-rise building.
Local channels published a video of the blaze.
The first videos of the large-scale fire began appearing online around 2 AM. Local media reported that the blaze broke out near the Nyvky metro station. Footage shows flames engulfing a significant part of the building.
Later clips appeared to show the roof of what is likely a five-story building fully ablaze.
Emergency services are already at the scene. As of 2:55 AM Kyiv time, however, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine had not released details of the incident or confirmed whether there were any casualties.
Earlier, reports emerged of a fire at a logistics center warehouse near Kyiv, caused by a drone strike.
During the night of September 16, Russian forces launched Shahed kamikaze drones against Ukraine.
Air raid alerts were declared twice in Kyiv. Air defense units shot down several drones over the Kyiv region, while explosions were heard in the capital itself. Blasts were also reported in the areas of Fastiv, Vasylkiv, Bila Tserkva, and Vyshhorod.
