On the night of September 16, Russian forces attacked the city of Sumy with drones. The strike caused a fire and partial power outages, according to the Sumy regional governor Oleh Hryhorov and Sumy military administration head Serhiy Kryvosheenko.

Sumy regional governor Oleh Hryhorov reported that two strikes were recorded in the city, both outside residential areas, with no casualties. However, other consequences were confirmed.

"Part of the city is temporarily without power due to the attack. Energy crews are already working to restore electricity as quickly as possible," he wrote.

Minutes later, Sumy military administration head Serhiy Kryvosheenko gave more details. One strike hit a warehouse building, causing a fire, but no injuries were reported.

"As a result of another strike, some households in the Zarichnyi district lost electricity. One of the city’s water intake facilities was also cut off," Kryvosheenko said.

He added that all relevant services are involved in eliminating the consequences and restoring power.

Russian strikes on Sumy

Russian forces continue to regularly attack Sumy with drones, various types of missiles, and aerial bombs.

For example, on the night of September 11, civilian infrastructure came under attack, sparking a fire and causing destruction. According to local authorities, a school building and vehicles were damaged, and windows in three residential houses were blown out.
