Children injured by detonation of explosive device in Kharkiv region - SES

In the Kharkiv region, children were injured as a result of the detonation of an explosive device, according to Ukraine’s SES.
An emergency occurred in the Kupiansk district near the village of Zelenyi Hai, where a grenade reportedly exploded.
As a result, two 12-year-old boys were injured. They sustained injuries to their arms and heads, and doctors assess their condition as serious.
The SES reminded that explosive objects pose a deadly threat and must not be touched, picked up, or moved independently.
"Dear parents! Take care of your children’s safety – explain to them the dangers of mines and ammunition!" the statement said.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine, citing the SES, reported that dangerous munitions resembling toys have appeared in Ukraine. These are SHOAB-0.5 cluster submunitions, which can look like small silvery balls, especially attractive to children.
These munitions have a wide blast radius. Some may fail to explode immediately after dispersal but can detonate upon any contact.
The SES also issued guidance for those who find debris from a drone, missile, or other unknown object:
-
Do not approach or touch it;
-
Move away to a safe distance;
-
Call 101;
-
Describe the location;
-
Provide the address.
