US President Donald Trump is dissatisfied with the situation of Russia’s war against Ukraine but believes it can be brought to an end, according to Fox News.

During a conversation with journalists, Trump said that no one had ever been tougher on Russia than him. The US president also stressed that he is unhappy with the situation of the war in Ukraine.

"It’s about the pipeline, you know, Nord Stream 2, and many other things. But I’m not happy. I’m not happy with this whole situation… It’s not our soldiers, okay, not our soldiers. But they’re taking heavy losses," Trump said.

According to the White House chief, earlier the losses between Ukraine and Russia stood at 5,000 soldiers, and now it’s 7,000 every week. Still, he believes the war can be ended.

"It’s a horrible, horrible waste of human life. So no, I’m not at all pleased with what’s happening there, I’ll tell you that. I think it’s going to be resolved… we’re going to solve it. I believe we’ll get it done," he added.

Trump noted that he was speaking about his dissatisfaction while answering a question about the overnight strike on Ukraine, when the Cabinet of Ministers building and residential houses in Kyiv caught fire as a result of the attack.

He also once again reminded that he had ended seven wars, and in the case of Ukraine, he would have said the same, if not for one nuance.

"This one, the war in Ukraine, I would say probably could’ve been solved the easiest. But with wars, you never know what you’re getting into," the US president concluded.

US ready to step up pressure on Kremlin

Yesterday, Donald Trump said he is ready to move to the "second stage" of sanctions against Russia. He made this clear when asked if the White House was prepared to impose new sanctions on Russia and punish Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

In addition, this information was confirmed by White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett.

He said that the White House does not rule out new sanctions against Russia following Moscow’s massive strike on Kyiv on the night of September 7. However, Hassett added that the final decision rests with Trump.
