US President-elect Donald Trump bases his team's decisions on American interests. Ukraine will need to work with the new administration, states Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of the President's Office, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

"Trump is forming a team for Americans, from Americans, so he is guided by the interests of his country," emphasized Podolyak.

According to him, it is important to remember that statements made during the political process and statements made in office are two different things. At the same time, the key figure remains Trump himself.

Podolyak believes that Ukraine must persist in maintaining contact with those in Trump's new administration who "see things differently" on certain issues.

"Our task is to clearly explain our subjectivity... Will it be difficult? Yes. Will there be resistance? Perhaps. But there could also be support if we set the right priorities," suggested the advisor to the head of the President's Office.

Trump's team

Recently, Trump announced most of the candidates for his administration. Some of them are known for their criticism of aid to Ukraine, with some even strongly believing in Russian propaganda.

Specifically, Trump wants Kristi Noem to become the Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security. She has called American aid to Ukraine a strategic mistake, claiming it allegedly pushes Russia closer to China.

At the same time, Tulsi Gabbard could take on the role of Director of National Intelligence under Trump. She has claimed that there are allegedly 25 dangerous biolabs in Ukraine.

More details about Trump's team can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
