President of the United States Donald Trump will provide weapons to Ukraine through the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), as Kyiv has demonstrated its strength. Moreover, American weapons will also be delivered using European funds. Nevertheless, Ukraine still needs to consider producing everything independently, stated political strategist Taras Zahorodnii in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.

Zahorodnii explained that Ukraine managed to pressure Trump and the US into supplying weapons. The Security Service of Ukraine carried out Operation Spiderweb and disabled part of Russia’s strategic aviation.

American military officials admit that Ukraine can still win the war. Even Russia’s ally China has grown concerned and acknowledged that Russia might lose.

"And that’s strength. Strength dictates will. Because the West always bets on the strong — those who can fulfill their role and be useful," the political strategist explained.

Weapons funded by Europe

Zahorodnii noted that Trump has always been willing to sell weapons for money — this is nothing new. Ukraine has the funds and maintains good relations with the US administration. Therefore, everything moves into a purely pragmatic dimension: Ukraine pays money and receives the necessary equipment.

On the other hand, thanks to Trump’s administration, Europe has woken up and started providing Ukraine with funds for weapons, as well as increasing its own defense budgets. Under Biden, European countries were much slower to come to this realization.

According to the expert, if Trump provides weapons from US stockpiles, as Biden has done, it will be a somber day for opponents of military aid to Ukraine.

Ukraine must produce its own weapons

However, the provision of weapons from the US and European funds for purchasing arms should be seen solely as a bonus earned through strength. Ukraine must produce its own surface-to-air missile systems, similar to the Patriot. It just needs to be fully financed.

"Because they are 100% Ukrainian-made. The SAM systems that have already been made. But for some reason, the Ministry of Defense ignores this. Meanwhile, Shaheds are flying endlessly, and they are still waiting for something that may never come. Today they promise, tomorrow they don’t. That’s how the world works," Zahorodnii concluded.

Ukraine to start receiving weapons from the US

The US administration has found a way to arm Ukraine while bypassing direct deliveries. It is planned that European countries will buy weapons for Ukraine and then transfer them to Kyiv.

It was also recently revealed that amid disappointment with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Trump has sent Ukraine part of the military aid requested by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This includes ammunition for Patriot systems and additional air defense batteries.
