Expert: High Russian losses near Kurakhove could lead to operational pause for Ukraine
It is important for Ukrainian defenders to eliminate Russian soldiers and destroy their equipment near Kurakhove. Such actions bring closer the operational pause, states former spokesperson of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladyslav Seleznov, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
Commenting on the operational encirclement of Ukrainian defenders in the Kurakhove area, Seleznov noted that there are valid reasons to be concerned about that section of the front.
"How this issue will be resolved, whether by sending additional forces and means to unblock our troops operating in this area, or possibly through a maneuver defense and the subsequent withdrawal of our forces to other positions, will be decided on the ground. I don’t think this information will be shared with the general public," he added.
According to the expert, it is not advisable to think or recommend anything to commanders on the ground while being in Kyiv. The key point is that Ukrainian defenders are in a defensive position, and the enemy suffers significantly higher losses during assaults.
"No matter what we say, the same figures of 1,000-1,500 killed and wounded Russian soldiers are the result of a battle where the Ukrainian army, in a defensive position, destroys manpower, armored vehicles, and weaponry. Because the fewer resources remain in the Russian army, the sooner the operational pause will come," Seleznov added.
