Ukraine won’t be forced to surrender, says Presidential Office

Despite US President Donald Trump’s strong statements, the United States doesn't take a pro-Russian position and is certainly not siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine’s YouTube channel.
According to Podolyak, this is obvious because the US is a direct competitor to Russia, and the two countries will remain in conflict.
"I remind you that every US administration, in its first weeks or months, believes it can reset relations with Russia and establish some form of communication. But the Russian Federation is not a country you can negotiate with and expect it to uphold agreements," Podolyak said.
He noted that Russia currently refuses to make any concessions in the war and, on the contrary, demands unilateral territorial gains, even those it cannot achieve militarily.
"They are making absurd claims, and I believe Trump will react accordingly. For example, the Russians say that they are unilaterally writing something into their constitution and want it all back. This is not a position that will be welcomed by our American partners and all the others, not to mention Ukraine," he added.
Podolyak also stressed that no one will force Ukraine to surrender.
"This is absolutely impossible because it is not in the interests of Europe or the United States. That’s why negotiations will be difficult. For now, the US is firmly moderating this process with its partners in Europe and Ukraine. But believe me, they will moderate this process even tougher once they realize that Russia is incapable of making agreements, which will become clear very soon," he emphasized.
Negotiations between the United States and Russia
In February, the US and Russian delegations met in Saudi Arabia. Both Washington and Moscow said they expected further contacts.
Later, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would not recognize the results of the talks in Riyadh. He also postponed his visit to Saudi Arabia because of a meeting between Russian and American delegations.
It is known that the delegations of Ukraine and the United States will meet in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, March 11.
