Ukraine denies Russian claims of border breach in Sumy region

The State Border Guard Service (SBGS) has not recorded any attempts by Russian forces to breach the Ukrainian border. Statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin have been proven false, stated SBGS spokesperson Andrii Demchenko in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine.
The State Border Guard Service's response
Demchenko commented on rumors that Russians broke through the border and entered Ukraine from the Kursk region.
"I have no confirmation of such information. In the areas where border units are located, no attempts of breakthrough have been recorded," he stated.
Additionally, Russian pro-war channels began posting about settlements where, according to Putin, a border breach occurred. They claimed that Russians entered the village of Novenke in the Sumy region.

Demchenko also refuted this information, indicating that no border breach attempts were recorded in that area.
Reaction of the military
Ukrainian Armed Forces officer Dmytro Lykhovii noted that Russian reports of a mass incursion into Ukrainian territory are untrue.
He reported that on February 19, Ukrainian defenders prevented a Russian unit from advancing toward the Ukrainian border in the direction of Nikolaievo-Daryino (a village in the Kursk region) - Zhuravka (a village in the Sumy region).

"The attempt was unsuccessful. There is no cause for panic. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue defensive operations in the Kursk region of Russia, destroying the enemy and holding several hundred square kilometers of the aggressor country's territory," Lykhovii added.
Putin's fake
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the soldiers from the 810th Brigade had crossed the border with Ukraine and entered its territory from the Kursk region.
After that, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko noted that such information was fake. Today, only the Russian sabotage and reconnaissance unit tried to cross the border.
