Russian military forces plan a classic encirclement of the city. Overall, their plan involves capturing Kupiansk by the New Year, states military-political analyst Oleksandr Kovalenko from the Information Resistance group in a comment to RBC-Ukraine on YouTube.

"They will move north. They have now reached the left bank of the Oskil River and will continue moving north. At the same time, they will be forming their flanks. They will be closing in their flanks," the expert noted.

He explained that the main objective of the Russian military is to reach Kupiansk while simultaneously creating the possibility of strikes from the north, east, and south.

"In other words, a classic encirclement of the city to initiate assault actions. I believe they will try to accomplish this by the New Year, but the question is whether they will succeed," he emphasized.
