In the Kursk region, the enemy is rotating troops amid heavy losses. However, North Korea continues to provide military support to Russia in both personnel and equipment, stated Andrii Yusov, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence.

Yusov was asked to comment on a New York Times report claiming that North Korean soldiers had been withdrawn from the front due to significant losses.

The intelligence spokesperson noted that Western media outlets can “speak more freely” than official representatives.

"We can confirm that there are significant losses among North Korean military personnel, who are present under nominal cover, using false documents, on Russian territory and are engaged in the aggressive war against Ukrainian forces," Yusov stated.

He explained that heavy losses require rotations, and such measures are currently underway.

"We can confirm that North Korea's military support continues, both in manpower and resources. When official statements can be made, they will be issued. But what our international journalist colleagues are reporting - they see heavy losses. And that means that once a unit loses a certain percentage of its personnel, it can no longer effectively carry out its assigned tasks," Yusov emphasized.

Rumors about the North Korean soldiers

Earlier, The New York Times reported that North Korean soldiers have not been spotted on the front lines for about two weeks. Therefore, they were probably withdrawn due to heavy losses.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Oleksandr Kindratenko, told RBC-Ukraine that Russia has withdrawn North Korean troops from several directions.
