No collapse of the front, but Russia's dominating - Military analyst reports
Military observer Yigal Levin, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, stated that Russian forces currently hold dominance on the Ukrainian front, but there is no sign of a "collapse of the front."
"No, there is absolutely no collapse of the front. It’s incorrect and misleading to suggest that. Just because the enemy advances intensely doesn’t mean it’s a collapse of the front. A collapse is something entirely different. Russia has been dominating since 2022, or even since 2014. When hasn’t Russia dominated?" Levin remarked.
He noted that Ukraine has had operational successes, such as liberating Kherson, driving Russian forces from the outskirts of Kyiv, and conducting the blitzkrieg in Kharkiv.
"However, Russian forces have remained on Ukrainian territory in the east, south, and Crimea. In broad terms, the strategic initiative has stayed with Russia. So, in this regard, nothing has changed. Russia has dominated, and now it’s even more dominant and pressing harder," he emphasized.
At the same time, Levin highlighted that if Ukraine's defense weren’t effective, Russian advances wouldn’t come at such a high cost.
"It would have been, as they say, a 'walk in the park. 'But this is far from a walk in the park. Their soldiers are willing to push forward and die… The issue is that they have more forces, and we have fewer. So sometimes we have to retreat. They’re overwhelming us with numbers, pressing with sheer quantity," he explained.
Frontline situation
Yesterday, November 7, nearly 150 combat clashes occurred along the frontline. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the enemy concentrated its heaviest pressure on one of the eastern fronts.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Russian forces have lost over 700,000 personnel in the war in Ukraine to date. More detailed information on Russian losses can be found in RBC-Ukraine’s report.
