Elimination of Russian general leaves Russians alarmed: Expert explains why
Today in Moscow, General Igor Kirillov died as a result of an explosion. The Russians were seriously frightened by this incident, stated Ukrainian military expert and retired Major Oleksii Hetman in a comment to RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
“They got scared. Because (Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry - ed.) Medvedev is now talking about a response. They usually do this when they are frightened. Any street thug, when scared, starts to threaten actively. This means they are seriously scared. This isn’t the first case, especially involving an electric scooter. I mean, I understand that an explosive device can be concealed in a scooter frame, and it effectively targets the enemy,” the expert explained.
According to Hetman, targeting military personnel or individuals involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, even those participating in the information warfare sector, is also self-defense. Self-defense, he explained, involves eliminating military targets or personnel directly on the battlefield or in enemy territory.
"This was a person responsible for chemical weapons. There are rules regarding what constitutes chemical weapons, lists of substances classified as chemical weapons. What the Russians are using is not chemical weapons but, by classification, chemically hazardous substances, toxic substances. However, it doesn’t fall under the category of chemical weapons. This person was also known for spreading false claims about bio-laboratories, battle mosquitoes, and so on," he added.
At the same time, the expert emphasized that this was a legitimate target for the Ukrainian army, and this could have frightened the Russians.
"I’m confident. They fully understand that any of their generals, especially those involved in missile strikes on our country, airstrikes, or commanding certain groups in the Russia-Ukraine war, are all legitimate targets. We are showing that we will reach them anywhere," Hetman concluded.
According to RBC-Ukraine sources, the Ukrainian Security Service was behind the liquidation of Russian General Igor Kirillov in Moscow.
Additionally, only yesterday the Security Service of Ukraine served Kirillov with a notice of suspicion in absentia for the massive use of banned chemical weapons against the Defense Forces in eastern and southern Ukraine.
