Could Putin turn against Trump? Ukrainian expert warns of risks for NATO

Despite the unity demonstrated by the Alliance at the recent NATO summit, Russia may be preparing for a completely different format of war, states political strategist Taras Zahorodnii in a comment to RBC-Ukraine’s YouTube channel.
According to him, the Kremlin is not afraid of the Alliance’s military strength, as it is preparing for asymmetric actions the West may not be ready for.
"What haven’t they seen before, and who is there to fear? They’re preparing for an old war," he noted, referring to NATO’s traditional perception of threats. In his opinion, the real danger lies in the massive use of drones.
"Two hundred Shaheds fly in — where will they even strike? Or imagine this: a cargo ship sails through the Baltic Sea, the deck opens, and 10,000 drones launch and start pounding some country. The cargo ship, of course, is Panamanian,” the expert added.
When asked about US President Donald Trump’s claim that Russia wouldn’t dare attack NATO while he is president, the expert responded cautiously: "Whether he stands firm or not — that’s just talk." According to him, the situation could change drastically if China starts putting pressure on Russia.
"If they’re cornered, they could do all sorts of things. China might force Russia to act. It’s in China’s interest to show that the US is an unreliable ally," the expert explained.
During the NATO summit in The Hague, Donald Trump, for the first time, shifted his rhetoric and voiced firm support for the Alliance and its defense mission.
Also, according to military intelligence, Putin is preparing to attack NATO countries within the next five years.
As outlined in a scenario published by Bloomberg, the attack would begin with the Baltic states.
