Can Russia really strike Kyiv’s government district? Expert opinion
Russia could indeed strike the government district of Kyiv. However, such an attack would mark the crossing of real red lines, stated Dmytro Zhmailo, executive director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
According to him, Russia could strike the government district, but this would mean crossing not those fictional red lines that Moscow draws, but real red lines. After all, this will be a strike at decision-making centers.
"Such a possibility exists, and our leadership is ready for this. Are they ready to go all-in? I think after this Kedr or Oreshnik, they will take a pause to put pressure on our Western partners on the diplomatic front. So, the possibility always remains, both strikes on Kyiv and medium-range ballistic strikes," Zhmailo said.
In his opinion, Russia might not have the audacity to carry out such an attack.
"Most likely, they will do it in a measured way. They definitely have enough reserve for two or three massive strikes, as we saw earlier this week," he emphasized.
It was also noted that yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament - ed.) canceled a meeting that was supposed to take place on Friday, November 22. The Parliament staff was also switched to remote work.
There was information circulating online suggesting that this decision might be linked to the threat of a Russian strike.
