Russian forces currently cannot carry out massive daily strikes on Ukraine due to a lack of resources, stated Lieutenant General and former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ihor Romanenko, in a commentary to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

"It’s possible, but at the moment they don’t have that capability. They are already attacking daily, every night. But large-scale strikes can only be carried out every 2–3 days. That means they need time to build up their arsenal," Romanenko explained.

According to him, the issue isn’t just about Shahed drones.

"They know this, they understand it, and they organize attacks to involve a complex mix of different types of drones. In addition, they add various kinds of missiles. And it’s this combination that’s the most effective," the expert said.

He emphasized that while the Russians are trying to operate this way, they currently lack the resources for daily mass strikes.

"They are working on increasing the quantity of air-attack weapons they produce and improving their quality," Romanenko added.

Massive strike on Ukraine on July 21

On the night of July 21, Russia launched a massive air attack on Ukraine, using 426 drones and 24 missiles. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed or suppressed 224 aerial targets.

The attack affected several regions — Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Ivano-Frankivsk came under fire. In the capital, a series of explosions was recorded with several hours between them.

At least six districts suffered from fires and destruction. Residential buildings, a kindergarten, a supermarket, warehouses, and a cottage complex were hit.

In the Kyiv region, the strike caused a major fire: an administrative building of 300 square meters and a warehouse of 1,200 square meters in the Fastiv district were engulfed in flames.
