During the night of July 21, Russia launched a massive overnight strike on Ukraine, using 426 drones and 24 missiles. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 224 aerial targets, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

According to the Ukrainian military, the enemy attacked from six directions: Bryansk, Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and the Black Sea. The following were recorded:

  • 426 Shahed UAVs and decoy drones;
  • 5 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
  • 4 Kalibr missiles;
  • 1 Iskander-K cruise missile;
  • 14 Kh-101 cruise missiles.

To repel the air attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups, and drone systems were deployed.

According to preliminary data, as of 9:30 a.m. Kyiv time, the Ukrainian Air Force shot down or suppressed 224 targets, including:

  • 200 Shahed drones;
  • The majority of the missiles (the rest were jammed by electronic warfare).

In addition, 203 decoy drones failed to reach their targets - their loss or suppression was confirmed as a result of electronic warfare efforts.

"Strikes from 23 attack drones were recorded at 3 locations, along with crash sites of downed drones at 12 other locations," the report stated.

The military emphasized that the Russian attack is still ongoing. In particular, a new group of Russian drones entered from the north.

On the night of July 21, Russia carried out yet another large-scale air assault on Ukrainian territory, using both missiles and attack drones. Due to the enemy strikes, hits, and damage were reported in several Ukrainian cities.

In the capital, Kyiv, the attack led to the death of at least one person. Seven others were injured and hospitalized.

Several districts of the capital were affected, including Darnytskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Solomianskyi. Due to the strike, smoke filled the Lukianivska metro station, which was temporarily closed.

Ivano-Frankivsk in western Ukraine also experienced its largest attack since the start of the full-scale invasion. Russian forces struck the city with both drones and missiles.
