Russian forces are unlikely to capture Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region before the New Year. The situation in this area will depend on how quickly the enemy can replenish its resources, stated Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles battalion of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Ataman Sirko, in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

"Of course, the enemy has the task of complete occupation of Kupiansk. However, in my opinion, they will not be able to accomplish this by the end of the year," said Fedorenko.

He noted that much depends on the supply of weapons and ammunition, as well as what forces and resources the enemy will use in the Kupiansk direction and how they will replenish losses in artillery, armored vehicles, and personnel.

Russia wants to capture Kupiansk before the New Year

Recently, military-political analyst of the Information Resistance group, Oleksandr Kovalenko, explained that Russian forces plan a classic encirclement of the city. Their goal is to capture Kupiansk by the New Year.

He explained that the main task for Russian troops was to reach Kupiansk while simultaneously preparing to strike from the North, East, and South.

According to Andrii Besedin, head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, at the end of October, Russian troops were already 2.5-3 kilometers from Kupiansk.
