Attempts by America to find a compromise with Russia are merely wasting time, as Russian leader Vladimir Putin will use any changes to put forward new conditions and pressure Washington, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state noted that he believes in the sincere desire of the US to stop the Russian war but warned against making concessions to Russia.
According to him, if Moscow sees a willingness to compromise, it will immediately begin imposing its own rules.
"Because if Putin sees you can support something, he will try to give you another idea, some other issues and new conditions. New government – new conditions. Leaders in Europe change? New conditions. The U.S. policy? President Trump appeared – very strong – new conditions," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The Ukrainian President stressed that the Kremlin is trying to exploit internal challenges in the US and the international situation, including negotiations with Iran.
Putin is counting on US President Donald Trump's desire to achieve a quick victory before the midterm elections and is doing everything to complicate negotiations in the Middle East.
"The same with Russia’s war against Ukraine. If Putin sees that President Trump needs some victory, he will decide what to give and what not to give. And this is the problem – Putin started to think that it is he who can decide. But America is one hundred times stronger than Russia. Absolutely. They just have to remember that," added the Ukrainian leader.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukrainian military forces continue active offensive operations in the Donetsk region.
In particular, within the framework of the Vivaldi offensive operation, the military has already liberated between 125 and 140 square kilometers of territory thanks to the successful work of the Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Parallel to this, Ukraine is actively working with international partners to weaken Russia's military capabilities.
Thus, the Ukrainian leader appealed to US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions against companies from Russia and China involved in the creation of the Rassvet satellite system, known as the Russian Starlink.
