Ukraine faces a heightened threat of further Russian missile strikes and urgently needs additional air defense systems, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with French counterpart Emmanuel Macron during a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv today, thanking the French leader for Paris's continued support.
The need for additional air defense packages for Ukraine is clear, Zelensky said, adding that Kyiv is working with all its partners to secure the necessary decisions.
"The threat of further missile strikes remains particularly high in the coming days," he warned.
Zelensky said it was also crucial to increase pressure on Russia, calling for joint and decisive action.
The two leaders also discussed the challenges posed by the easing of sanctions on petroleum products.
The Ukrainian president emphasized that Russia must realize it no longer possesses the capacity to drag out the war.
The leaders are coordinating their efforts in detail and preparing for further meetings, he added.
Zelensky has previously warned that Russia intends to prolong the war and continue terrorizing civilians, using revenue from petroleum product exports to fund weapons production and recruit mercenaries.
Kyiv has also said it would support easing sanctions on Russia only in exchange for an energy truce. Ukrainian officials have described such arrangements as unfair, comparing them to agreements reached last year.
