Numerous damages have been caused to Ukraine’s power grid and electricity transmission facilities as a result of Russian strikes, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy held a conference call involving military personnel and government officials.

“Unfortunately, there is extensive damage to power grids and electricity transmission facilities. Restoration work is underway around the clock. We updated our needs for energy equipment and air defense packages. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office team are preparing the relevant communication with partners. I will speak with the leaders,” the president noted.

The head of state also heard a report on the deadlines for implementing resilience plans, particularly in the Kyiv region and other regions.

“Slow-walking this work is absolutely unacceptable, and officials at the Ministry of Infrastructure and regional administrations bear personal responsibility. We also set specific tasks for Kyiv due to an almost complete failure by the city authorities to take the necessary steps,” Zelenskyy stressed.

There was also a report on the situation in Pryluky, Chernihiv region. The president instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive package of decisions discussed with residents of Pryluky by the end of the week.

Zelenskyy heard a report from Ukraine’s defense minister and the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the situation at the front, primarily in the Donetsk region, in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Dobropillia, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.

“There are results in eliminating the occupiers’ infiltration attempts in Dobropillia. We identified decisions that should deliver results in the coming weeks,” the president added.

Electricity situation in Ukraine

On October 8, the Russians struck an energy facility important to Kyiv. Following the attack, the capital began experiencing serious electricity supply problems.

Meanwhile, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko suggested that some Kyiv residents leave the city. He did not call for a full evacuation, but only recommended considering the option of temporarily moving in with someone outside the capital.

Electricity outage schedules were tightened in Ukraine today. For some consumers, restrictions will cover 2.5 outage groups instead of the two groups announced earlier.
