Following another Russian attack on Ukraine's energy sector, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on allies to decide on the use of frozen Russian assets. He notes that the political will for this already exists, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As the President emphasizes, it was another restless night for Ukraine. Since yesterday evening, the Russians have been striking the Dnipropetrovsk region. They also attacked the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions. The targets are critical infrastructure.
Zelenskyy notes that the continuation of Russian attacks indicates an insufficient level of international pressure on Moscow.
"The fact that the Russians continue targeting energy facilities and civilians shows once again that the pressure is still insufficient. It is crucial that the United States, Europe, and the G7 continue their sanctions and tariff efforts on Russian energy trade and finances. And Moscow must finally grasp how serious Europe is about its self-defense," the head of state says.
He stresses that it is time to move from intentions to concrete actions on the issue of Russian assets.
"It is time to make a decision on Russia’s frozen assets. The political will is already there, and we expect the technical implementation to follow swiftly. It is only fair that the aggressor’s money be used to protect against its war. I thank everyone working for peace," the President adds.
