Zelenskyy: Ukraine preparing for another prisoner exchange with Russia

Ukraine is expecting another prisoner exchange with Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a comment to journalists.
Negotiations only by phone
According to Zelenskyy, contact with the American team continues, but for now only remotely.
“Our conversation with the American group is ongoing. So far, negotiations are only taking place by phone or online. There are exchanges, and this track continues,” he said.
Despite the absence of a trilateral in-person meeting, Ukraine has already managed to bring its people back from captivity.
Another exchange coming up
Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine is now expecting another military exchange.
“We are currently expecting another exchange. God willing, everything will work out,” he added.
The president also commented on a possible visit by US negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Kyiv.
“To talk more about ending the war not by phone, but in real detail — we expect them, I think they will come,” he noted.
At the same time, Zelenskyy acknowledged that for Washington, the situation in the Middle East is currently a top priority.
“For us, the number one issue is the war in Ukraine. For Americans, the number one issue is the war in Iran. But Ukraine is also among the priority topics,” he said.
As RBC-Ukraine previously reported, during the April 11 exchange, Ukraine had planned to bring back more prisoners, but Russia refused.
A representative of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Andrii Yusov, stated at the time that the enemy rejected Kyiv’s humanitarian initiatives. However, efforts to return prisoners continue.
Recently, the president also revealed the number of Ukrainians freed from captivity. Some of them had been held for 10 years.
