The United States' decision regarding Russian diesel fuel will lead to further terror and treachery, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will 'repay' the diesel with further terror and perfidy," the president said.

The president stressed that allowing the aggressor country to sell petroleum products amounts to investing in a war that needs to end, not continue. Zelenskyy said that genuine, reciprocal de-escalation with Russia is necessary.

"Any easing of sanctions against Russia without a clear and lasting de-escalation agreement with Russia is an obvious weakness. It plays into Russia's hands – allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world," he emphasized.

What happened earlier

Trump said today that during a conversation with Putin, they agreed that Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the US and global markets, another 500,000 tons during November, and 1 million tons immediately afterward.

In addition, given the condition of Russia's oil refineries, the aggressor country will subsequently supply another 3 million tons of diesel fuel.

The US Treasury Department has already authorized Russian diesel supplies and lifted sanctions on them until April 7, 2027.

In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly stated that Ukraine should stop striking Russian infrastructure, claiming that these attacks are causing a global diesel shortage.
