Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed US President Donald Trump photos of the aftermath of a Russian attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This happened during a meeting of the leaders at the G7 summit, Reuters reports.

The information that Zelenskyy showed Trump the consequences of the Russian strike was reported to Reuters by unnamed European diplomats.

One of the diplomats noted that Trump expressed his disapproval of the Russian attack.

At the same time, according to another diplomat, from a psychological point of view, Zelenskyy’s decision to show these photos was a good move.

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is over 1,000 years old. It is a symbol of Ukraine’s spiritual and cultural heritage and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On the night of June 15, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Ukraine. A large number of drones and missiles were launched at Kyiv.

It later became known during the night that there was a strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where a fire broke out. According to official data, the attack was carried out using a strike drone.

Russian forces damaged the Dormition Cathedral. According to Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy Tetiana Berezhna, emergency responders and the monastery brotherhood reacted quickly on site, which helped minimize risks to people.

At the same time, Bishop Abrahamiy reported that an urgent evacuation of ancient icons, liturgical items, and other valuables was organized from the Lavra.
