Today, November 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and the American people on Thanksgiving Day.

"We deeply appreciate all the support, which has saved so many lives in Ukraine and helps us defend our independence each day," Ukraine's President says.

The head of state also expresses hope for further deepening cooperation between Kyiv and Washington.

"We are very glad that our relationship is constructive and look forward to further positive progress in diplomacy – to finally end for good Russia’s war against our people. We sincerely hope that dignified peace and guaranteed security will become our joint achievement," he says.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States, celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday of November.

In 2025, the last Thursday falls on the 27th.

Its roots date back to the 17th century, when the first colonists and indigenous peoples held a joint meal to express their gratitude for the harvest and support.

Today, the holiday symbolizes gratitude for prosperity, family, and peace, and a traditional attribute is a festive dinner with turkey.

On this day, Americans gather with their families, hold parades, and organize charity events. Also, after Thanksgiving Day, one of the biggest sales seasons in the United States begins.
