Zelenskyy says Trump’s deadline for Putin is about to expire

Ukraine is waiting for strong steps from the United States toward Russia, as the Kremlin has not agreed to Washington’s proposal for a meeting between the Ukrainian, Russian, and American leaders, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy noted that there had been a conversation and dialogue with US President Donald Trump. There was a bilateral talk with Trump, as well as discussions with European leaders, during which Ukraine confirmed its readiness for negotiations and suggested agreeing on how long to wait for Russia’s decision.
"Each of us must be responsible for what we say and what we are ready for… We are waiting for some strong steps from the US toward Russia, because they made the proposal to us, and we agreed. But Russia has not yet agreed," he said.
Zelenskyy added that on Monday, the "two or three weeks" set by the US President as a deadline for Russia’s decision on whether to accept a bilateral or trilateral meeting would expire.
"Two weeks will be on Monday, and we will remind everyone about it," the Ukrainian President concluded.
Zelenskyy earlier stated that Ukraine is ready for a meeting with Russia at the leadership level. However, Moscow continues its aggression and is putting forward new conditions.
Recently, Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that during the current negotiations to end the war, Putin is deliberately presenting conditions that cannot be accepted.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he believes Putin is afraid to meet with Zelenskyy to discuss terms for ending the war.
