Ukrainian intelligence has recorded Russia's large losses from the recently imposed sanctions. According to forecasts, the state’s losses from restrictions on the oil sector alone could exceed $50 billion per year, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“We have preliminary detailed intelligence assessments of the impact of our partners' new sanctions on Russia's war machine. There is a lot of information. Based on it, we adjust our communications with partners as we prepare for new sanctions,” the president said.

According to him, significant losses for Russia are already being recorded from restrictions on oil companies, and it is expected that, with continued principled and consistent pressure on Moscow, their losses from the recently applied restrictions alone will amount to at least $50 billion per year.

The president emphasized that partners’ sanctions measures will increase, and Ukraine has already received corresponding signals.

Zelenskyy stressed that oil supplies from Arab states to the global market can definitely prevent any destabilization or price spikes, contrary to Russian scare tactics.

“We have also established a regular data exchange with key countries regarding Russian individuals and schemes that should be sanctioned. And partners are taking into account a significant portion of our proposals. I am grateful for this. Measures related to the Russian tanker fleet, which we discussed with European leaders at last week's Coalition of the Willing meeting, must also be fully implemented,” he added.

The head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko, briefed Zelenskyy on the mood and immediate plans of the Chinese leadership in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“It is important that China contribute to efforts aimed at stopping Russia’s ongoing attempts to expand and prolong the war. Our diplomats will receive relevant instructions based on information from recent meetings in the region. I thank everyone who is helping!” Zelenskyy added.

Sanctions against Russia

US President Donald Trump announced a new package of strict sanctions against the Russian energy sector on October 23. Oil giants Lukoil and Rosneft, along with their subsidiaries, were included in the restrictions.

From now on, any financial transactions with these companies or their divisions are prohibited.

On October 27, the Russian oil company Lukoil announced plans to divest its international assets following the sanctions imposed by the US and several other countries.

On October 29, the Russian oil tanker Furia, en route to India, abruptly changed course and is now idling in the Baltic Sea. This move signals that the new US sanctions are already starting to affect Russian oil supplies.
