Zelenskyy's office announces major prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine

A new major prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia could take place as early as next week. Kyiv hopes the agreements will be implemented quickly, Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov told Novyny.LIVE.
According to Budanov, news about the exchange should be expected soon. He stressed that the process should take place fairly quickly.
"It should happen very quickly, in the near future. I think, within the week," the head of the Office of the President said.
The journalist clarified whether he meant next week specifically. In response, Budanov said: "We hope so."
Thus, the Ukrainian side expects a major prisoner exchange to take place in the coming days. At the same time, the exact date and other details of the exchange have not been disclosed.
As a reminder, on August 24, Ukraine returned 10 servicemen from captivity via Belarus. This was a special stage of the exchange carried out as part of the agreements between the parties.
All those released had defended Ukraine in the Donetsk sector and had previously been considered missing. Two servicemen had been listed as missing since 2024, while the other eight had been missing since 2025.
