Russian occupiers set a fire on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Ukraine is waiting for the reaction of the world and the International Atomic Energy Agency, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Currently, the radiation readings are normal, but the situation at ZNPP cannot be normal as long as it is illegally controlled by Russian terrorists and used to blackmail Ukraine, Europe, and the world.

"We are waiting for the world's reaction, waiting for the IAEA's reaction. Russia must be held accountable for this. Only Ukrainian control over the Zaporizhzhia plant can guarantee a return to normalcy and full security," Zelenskyy emphasizes.

Russians set fire at Zaporizhzhya NPP territory

On the evening of 11 August, residents of Nikopol noticed a fire on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. According to the head of the Nikopol District Military Administration, Yevhen Yevtushenko, the Russians had previously set fire to a large number of tires in the cooling towers of the plant. They probably did this as a provocation or to intimidate Ukrainians.

The Russian army seized Zaporizhzhia NPP in March 2022, a few days after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Currently, the IAEA mission is on the territory of ZNPP, which recently reported fires around the nuclear power plant.
