On the eve of the third anniversary of the war, Russia launched its largest attack on Ukraine, deploying a record number of strike drones, according to the Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Russia conducted one of the largest attacks in the history of the conflict, directing 267 strike drones at Ukrainian cities and villages, marking the most significant use of Iranian drones to date.

This attack is part of an overall weekly bombardment, during which nearly 1,150 strike drones, over 1,400 guided aerial bombs, and 35 missiles of various types were deployed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to all those who defend against enemy attacks daily, including the air force, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces. He specifically acknowledged the efforts of rescuers, medics, and national police who work on the ground to save lives from the aftermath of the bombardments.

Zelenskyy emphasized the need to strengthen air defense and enhance the work of the entire international partnership to achieve lasting and just peace for Ukraine. He underscored that this requires the unity of partners, the strength of all of Europe, America, and other allies who strive for reliable peace.

Drone attack

It was reported on the evening of February 22 that Russia launched drones at Ukraine. Subsequently, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of the threat of ballistic missile strikes and reported the movement of fast-moving targets toward Kryvyi Rih.

By the morning of February 23, it became clear that Russia had launched 267 strike drones and imitation drones, as well as three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Crimea. This marks the largest number of drones that Russia has deployed in a single attack on Ukraine.
