Zelenskyy reshuffles National Security and Defense Council: Danilov dismissed
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Oleksiy Danilov from the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, according to the decree of the head of state.
"To dismiss Oleksiy Miacheslavovych Danilov from the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine," the document says.
At the same time, the new Secretary of the NSDC became Oleksandr Lytvynenko.
"To appoint Oleksandr Valeriyovych Lytvynenko as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine," the decree №188/2024 states.
Prior to this, Zelenskyy dismissed Lytvynenko from the position of the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
Oleksiy Danilov
He graduated from the Luhansk State Pedagogical University, named after T. Shevchenko, with a degree in History, the East Ukrainian National University, named after V. Dahl, with a master's degree in Management, and the Luhansk Institute of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with a degree in Law.
In 1994-1997, he was the mayor of Luhansk, and from 2005 to 2006, he was appointed as the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration and the deputy director of the European Institute for Integration and Development.
Danilov served as the thirteenth Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine and held this position since October 3, 2019.
Oleksandr Lytvynenko
In 2013, he graduated from the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), UK; in 2009 - Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in Law; in 1994 - the Institute of Cryptography, Communications, and Informatics of the Academy of the Federal Security Service of Russia with a degree in Applied Mathematics.
Lytvynenko has been the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service since July 23, 2021. Prior to that, from April 4, 2014, to August 13, 2019, he was the Deputy Secretary of the NSDC.
