Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said what he thinks about possible talks between the leaders of the US, China, and Russia without Ukraine. The Kremlin chief has already begun to emerge from isolation, as Zelenskyy told the Italian Corriere della Sera.
The journalist recalled that Russian president Vladimir Putin had proposed a meeting with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping without Ukraine's participation. He asked whether Zelenskyy was concerned that they might decide the country's future without its involvement.
"I would like to understand, in order to avoid further surprises. The question is not only whether they meet with us or without us: unfortunately, Putin's gradual emergence from isolation has already begun. It will not be the first step," Zelenskyy said.
"If Ukraine is on the agenda, we would like Ukraine to be consulted. I cannot comment on the rest: I do not know what they will discuss," he added.
Trump has already commented on a possible trilateral meeting. According to him, Russia is "behaving quite normally" regarding Ukraine.
He added that he would hold such a meeting to discuss nuclear weapons and denuclearization.
Zelenskyy urged US senators to pressure Trump to lift restrictions on intelligence sharing and arms supplies.
Ukraine did not receive warnings from Washington about Russian ballistic missiles on three occasions over the past week.
