President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has offered Yulia Svyrydenko to head the government of Ukraine and significantly update its work.

According to the head of state, Svyrydenko reported on the fulfillment of the commitments made at the recent Ukraine Recovery Conference. Zelenskyy stressed that all initiatives that contribute to strengthening the resilience of the state and society should be implemented as soon as possible.

"We also discussed concrete measures to boost Ukraine’s economic potential, expand support programs for Ukrainians, and scale up our domestic weapons production," the president said.

Zelenskyy also announced the beginning of the transformation of the executive branch. He proposed Yulia Svyrydenko to head the government of Ukraine and significantly update its work.

Zelenskyy said that he expects the new Cabinet to present an action program in the near future.

Earlier, it became known that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal would resign and that a replacement was already being sought. Several MPs said that the president had decided to appoint Yulia Svyrydenko, the current Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, to the post. However, Svyrydenko herself has recently stated that she has not received any proposals to take up the post of prime minister.

Shmyhal took over the government on March 4, 2020, on the eve of the coronavirus crisis. His government has been in place for the longest time since Ukraine's independence, but most members of the government have changed during this time. The last significant changes took place in September 2024.

According to sources, the possible dates for voting are July 15-17.
