The recent massive shelling on Israeli territory is a tragedy, but we should not forget about Ukraine either. The best option would be if partners also helped the Defense Forces to shoot down enemy air targets, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

"Regarding the Middle East, I can't say that one tragedy or another… War distracts. It is unfair to the threat on other continents and other parts of the world. It is a great sorrow. This shelling is simply a tragedy, and the fact that the missiles were destroyed and there were no mass casualties—thank God it happened that way, thank God there are allies who protected the people of Israel," the president said.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the world should not forget about the war in Ukraine, and the best way to "not forget" would be to provide the necessary weapons and assist in shooting down enemy air targets, including Iranian missiles and drones.

"To shoot them down just as they are being shot down over the skies of Israel," he added.

Massive shelling of Israel

On October 1, Iran launched a large-scale missile strike on Israel for the second time this year, firing about 180 ballistic missiles. The Israeli air defense system, along with US military forces, successfully repelled the attack.

Meanwhile, during the conference with Rutte, Zelenskyy called on partners to also help Ukraine defend itself against Russian shelling. As he noted, shooting down Iranian missiles is no different from shooting down Russian ones.

Details about the attack, its consequences, and international reactions can be read in the article on RBC-Ukraine.
