The Russian army struck the center of Zaporizhzhia, destroying a private hospital and damaging nearby buildings, with people potentially trapped under the rubble. Each such strike proves that it is necessary to increase the air defense capabilities of Ukraine, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

As Zelenkyy noted, a rescue operation is underway. It is already known about three fatalities and at least 14 injured. The necessary assistance is being provided to everyone.

"An office building was destroyed, a medical center and residential areas were damaged. There may be people under the rubble. Maximum efforts are being made to save lives, with all emergency services involved," Zelenskyy said.

President stressed that every such attack highlights the necessity of bolstering air defense systems in Ukraine. According to him, the world has enough systems to do this.

"We have sent all requests regarding air defense systems to our partners: both for Patriot and other systems that can be effective in protecting lives. The issue is only in political decisions. And these are decisions of the US administration, decisions of leaders in Europe, decisions of other partners around the world. Decisions that can save thousands of lives and make Russian terror meaningless," he emphasized.
