President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew held a phone conversation. In particular, they discussed Russia's barbaric attack during Christmas, according to the head of the Ukrainian state on Telegram.
Zelenskyy said that he thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch for his heartfelt Christmas greetings to Ukrainians and for supporting the protection of life and Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts.
The President noted that even on Christmas Eve and during the night of Christmas, the Russian forces did not stop their attacks on Ukraine. In many cities and villages, power outage schedules remain in effect.
In particular, today, December 25, the Russian army continues striking eastern Ukrainian cities during the day. Meanwhile, in Chernihiv, aid is still being provided to those wounded in the Russian attack on a multi-story building.
"A very accurate assessment of all this came up in our conversation: unfortunately, we are dealing with barbarians who, in the end, do not even believe in God. This is exactly what Russia has become, and it is not even ashamed of it. On the contrary, they in Russia try to turn their thirst for killing into a source of national pride," Zelenskyy said.
He assured that Ukraine’s resistance to the Russian war and aggression will continue, as will the protection of Ukrainian lives.
