Zelenskyy on Kharkiv offensive: Russia aims to show it controls war's course
Carrying out operations on the Kharkiv front, Russian troops are attempting to weaken Ukrainian forces along the entire front line, according to a video address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Essentially, the entire occupant operation in Kharkiv boils down to an attempt to weaken our forces along the front line and simultaneously strengthen its propaganda - propaganda aimed at world leaders. Russia wants to show as if it is the one determining what will happen next in the war," explained the president.
He emphasized that Ukraine's task is to thwart Russia's attempt to expand the war and not allow the occupier to break either the front or Ukrainian diplomacy.
Situation in the Kharkiv direction
Last week, Russian forces attempted to breach the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. They did not achieve significant success but managed to occupy several settlements in the gray zone.
Today, the Commander-in-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced that the Russian Federation has expanded the area of hostilities by 70 kilometers. More details about Syrskyi's opinion on this matter and the likely intentions of the Russian Federation can be found in the material of RBC-Ukraine.
