Zelenskyy on Flag Day: Criminals who brought ruins will face ruins at home
Criminals who came to destroy Ukraine and brought ruins will face ruins at home, citing a statement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state made this statement during a ceremonial event on Ukraine's State Flag Day.
"In our blue and yellow colors lies the entire experience of the Ukrainian people. The memory of Ukrainians and the path of Ukraine. A path that has never been easy, but one that has shaped our people into what they are today. As brave as the people of Cossack descent always have been and will be. As strong as they are, inspiring the whole world. Restoring not only for themselves but also for the people of other nations the confidence that there is still a place for justice in our world," the president said.
Zelenskyy added that Ukrainians are reclaiming their right to justice, freedom, national dignity, security, and their own state.
"...and that the criminals who came to destroy Ukraine and brought ruins to our home will undoubtedly have ruins in their own homes," the head of state said.
Ukraine's Flag Day
Today, August 23, on the eve of Independence Day, Ukraine celebrates State Flag Day.
In 1992, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the official design of the Ukrainian flag. However, Ukrainians began using the rectangular blue and yellow flag long before this. More details on the history of the national flag can be found in our material.
