Zelenskyy on EU summit: Strong decisions to support Ukraine and pressure Russia

The European Council, during its meeting, adopted good decisions regarding security support for Ukraine, as well as further pressure on Russia, the Telegram channel of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports.
"Important results of the European Council meeting. I thank our partners for their support. There are truly good decisions on security support, further pressure on Russia, and a high evaluation of our internal transformation. Even in times of war, we are making and implementing decisions that bring us closer to EU accession," the President stated.
According to Zelenskyy, every united signal of support for Ukraine is a signal guaranteeing that Europe will have a future. Today, everything depends on the unity of the EU member states, as well as the countries striving for European integration.
In particular, Ukraine's leader thanked European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for their leadership.
European Council meeting
Yesterday, June 26, a meeting of the European Council took place. During his speech, Zelenskyy called on EU countries to support the introduction of the next, already 18th package of sanctions against Russia. Ukraine's President also noted the need to pay attention to trade in Russian oil, the shadow tanker fleet, Russian financial institutions, and supply chains for weapons components.
Ultimately, the EU countries were unable to adopt the new package of restrictions but extended the previous one.
